Randy's Nutrition & Diet
Some people are willing to pay the price and it's the same with staying healthy or eating healthy. There's some discipline involved. There's some sacrifices. - Mike Ditka
After "retiring" from college football, I was tired of always feeling fat and unhappy with myself. One of my favorite quotes is that, "Change will come when the pain of staying the same is worse than the pain of change." I was definitely at that point. Before, I spent countless hours in the gym every week, thinking that working out a lot would counteract all the eating & drinking that i was doing, especially on weekends. I finally one day looked myself in the mirror and decided that it was time to change my eating habits toward healthier foods.
I am the kind of person that if I don't know enough about something, I will take the initiative to go read about it from CREDIBLE sources. I spent a lot of time on Menshealth.com & Muscleandfitness.com, along with other websites. Plus I read Lou Ferrigno's book Lou Ferrigno's Guide To Personal Power, Bodybuilding, And Fitness which really inspired me. It definitely did not happen overnight, and it took a lot of trial & error, but I was eventually able to change my eating habits so that I was burning more calories than I was taking in on a consistent basis so that I was losing weight. I managed to get down to about 240lbs before the holiday season started in 2009, and then gained about 10lbs through Thanksgiving & Christmas. After that, I started the 2010 Men's Health / Spartacus Challenge, and I took my newfound healthy diet to a whole new level & never turned back!!
The results that I achieved in just 2 short months would not have been possible at all without having a very strict diet. Even with all the working out that I told you about in my Getting Ripped!! section, I would not have won if I did not have a strict diet. Plus, my strict diet helped to keep my body fueled so that I was able to workout like I did. Just like during the transformation contest, as a professional eater eating thousands of calories per weekend, I would not be able to stay fit without a very healthy diet during the week.
Like I said in my Fitness Training section, I ALWAYS get asked the question, "Randy, how do you do it?" Well this section is going to answer the nutrition side of that question. I have broken my nutrition schedule down into 3 parts: what my diet was like during the 2010 contest period that helped me lose all that weight, what my diet was like during my 2012 Sexification that helped me lose over 40lbs in just 10 weeks, & what my diet is like now as a professional eater. I also have a section all about supplements!! Please note that this is what MY nutrition program is like. I am lucky that I am not very high maintenance when it comes to nutrition. I dont need a bunch of flavorful fancy food to make me happy. Most likely, you are going to think my diet is very boring, especially if you love fast food. Well, this is what I do so that I can maintain my fitness level & great health so that I can keep eating like I do!! :)
